Attorney Eric O. Moody

Attorney Eric O. Moody, a native of Chesapeake, Virginia, is a product of the Chesapeake Public Schools having graduated from Crestwood High School in 1969 with honors, and attended Lafayette College, Easton, Pennsylvania where he earned the Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy in 1973.

While at Lafayette he was awarded the George Wharton Pepper Prize, bestowed upon the graduating senior who best demonstrated the institution’s “highest ideal.” Mr. Moody then studied law at the University of Virginia and received his Juris Doctorate Degree in 1976 and was admitted to the Virginia State Bar that same year.

In his community, Attorney Moody has served 18 years as a commissioner on the Economic Development Authority for the City of Chesapeake, 11 years of which he served as its Chairman, he presided as Substitute Judge for the Chesapeake General District Court for 24 years, from 1983 to 2007.  Moody is twice past president of the South Hampton Roads Bar Association, member of the American Bar Association, Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, and a Lifetime member of the NAACP.

Mr. Moody is Senior Partner of Eric O. Moody and Associates, P.C.  He offers legal commentary for the NBC Hampton Roads affiliate WAVY TV 10 NEWS, is a guest host for Hampton University’s radio station, WHOV 88.1 FM, and is a legal expert for Clear Channel Communication’s WKUS 92.1 and 103 JAMZ.

Attorney Elliott O. Moody

Elliott O. Moody joined Eric O. Moody & Associates in February, 2016 after serving as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney with the Portsmouth Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.  While serving as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney, Moody prosecuted criminal cases in the Portsmouth General District Court and the Portsmouth Circuit Court, participated in all stages of bench and jury trials, drafted and filed appellate briefs in the Virginia Court of Appeals and the Virginia Supreme Court, investigated criminal complaints and prepared indictments.  Prior to his work with the Commonwealth Attorney, Moody was honored to serve as Law Clerk for the Portsmouth Circuit Court Judges.  He performed complex research and drafted documents on a variety of both civil and criminal issues.

Attorney Moody graduated from the Howard University School of Law and obtained his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Virginia.  While matriculating, Moody interned with the Federal Communications Commission and the Washington, D.C. Office of the Attorney General. At Howard, Attorney Moody was a three-time recipient of the Excellence for the Future Award, a recipient of a Merit Fellows Scholarship, and a recipient of the James A. Cobb Scholarship.

Since joining Eric O. Moody & Associates, Attorney Moody has provided legal representation, counsel and advice on a variety of matters including criminal law, housing litigation, and contract negotiation and development.
